My favorite covers from Marvel’s July solicitations.
Fantastic Four returns and FF continues. This is an appropriate “FUCK YES!” moment.
Fantastic Four #5 cover by Jack Kirby
As a big fan of DOOM, I thought it was appropriate to have the inaugural post of Comic Book Cover Carnival feature the cover of Fantastic Four #5, the first appearance Dr. Doom. This is a blog that will feature some of the most fascinating, historic, relevant, innovative and visually stunning comic book covers throughout the years — from the old school to the school that has yet to be built.
If you have the time, you can also check out COMIC BOOK VIOLENCE! Guess what that’s about. Also, I post some comics-related stuff on Purveyor of Villainy every now and then. Later, fools!
God, you are magnificent.
I adapted Elton John’s Candle in the Wind into something more relevant to us comics folk.
Goodbye Human Torch
Thank you for all the lives you've saved
From the resurrected Annihilus and his
Unstoppable second Annihilation Wave
You shouted "Flame On!" for the last time
And you suffered a lot of pain
Now you're trapped in the Negative Zone
Where only insect monsters speak your name
{Refrain}
And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Fading like a bitch when the rain set in
And your footsteps will always fall here
In the dimension where you were killed
Your candle's burned out long before
Your legend ever will
Recklessness we've lost
These empty days without your smile
This torch we'll always carry
For the Fantastic Four's flaming child
Your last stand at Reed's lab
Brought the Thing and us to tears
All our words cannot express
The joy you brought us through the years
{Refrain}
Goodbye Human Torch
Thank you for all the lives you've saved
From the resurrected Annihilus and his
Unstoppable second Annihilation Wave
Goodbye Johnny Storm
We'll comfort your hot sister, bro
And we'll look forward to your eventual return
More than you'll ever know
{Refrain}
Please allow me to show you some scanned panels from Fantastic Four in… Ataque del M.O.D.O.K.! because it’s an awesome comic.
