As a big fan of DOOM, I thought it was appropriate to have the inaugural post of Comic Book Cover Carnival feature the cover of Fantastic Four #5, the first appearance Dr. Doom. This is a blog that will feature some of the most fascinating, historic, relevant, innovative and visually stunning comic book covers throughout the years — from the old school to the school that has yet to be built.

Just read Fantastic Four #588. The final issue. I… I think I’ve got something in my eye. The fact that there’s no dialogue until the last page of the main story doesn’t help me in my fight against weeping like a little girl. Best gut-wrenching tribute issue I’ve read in years. Maybe EVER.

There is no more Fantastic Four. There is only THE FUTURE FOUNDATION.
